In this exhibition, Hannah Bohnen presents a new body of work that engages with the immediacy of the line — the line as drawing, as mark, as movement across a surface.
The act of writing becomes a tactile process. Material is applied directly from the tube or from the artist’s hand onto the surface. The line emerges through the body.
Working with expansive gestures that involve the entire physical presence, the artist strokes, patches, rubs, and circles. The line is not merely a trace, but an action. It searches forward, crosses boundaries, tangles itself, pulls, yields.
Within its apparent harmlessness lies a risk.
It’s all fun and games — until it’s not.
