In Make A Wish, Alejandra Caicedo brings together two seemingly incompatible worlds: the seductive glamour of high fashion and the raw energy of contemporary motorcycle culture. A female figure, dressed in an extravagant pale-pink ruffled garment and striking leopard-print high-heeled boots, sits astride a BMW motorcycle, partially concealed by lush tropical foliage.

The composition is deliberately cropped, withholding the figure's face and directing our attention instead towards the language of objects, textures, and gestures. The polished metallic surfaces of the motorcycle contrast with the softness of the flowing fabric, while the animal-print boots introduce an element of theatrical extravagance. Tropical leaves frame the scene, lending it an atmosphere somewhere between an exotic fashion editorial and a cinematic moment suspended in time.

Caicedo's remarkable painterly precision gives every surface an almost tangible presence. Yet the work is far more than a demonstration of technical virtuosity. Through the unexpected combination of femininity, machinery, fashion, and tropical vegetation, the artist challenges familiar visual codes and conventional expectations.

The motorcycle, traditionally associated with speed, freedom, and masculine identity, becomes part of a distinctly feminine visual narrative. The figure appears confident and self-determined, even though her identity remains deliberately anonymous. What matters is not who she is, but the attitude and possibilities she embodies.

Make A Wish is a powerful example of contemporary figurative painting, combining photorealistic brilliance with an unmistakable sense of style, humour, and cultural awareness. Both glamorous and provocative, the work celebrates individuality and the freedom to reinvent one's own image.
